Hartford Homecoming parade

There will be a Hartford High School Homecoming parade in downtown Hartford beginning at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. At 6 p.m., there will be a barbecue and pep rally. Everyone is invited to join the students to “celebrate homecoming week and to support the Hartford Jaguars,” said a sponsor.

Ottumwa celebration in Burlington

On Oct. 14, the “Ottumwa Homecoming” will be held at Kelley Park Hall in Burlington, with doors opening at 11 a.m. A basket dinner will be served at noon. Beverages will be furnished but those attending are to bring table service.

There will be a program in the afternoon and people are invited to come and tell a story about a “Favorite Grade School Teacher” or bring a reading, a joke, a song, pictures, or articles, for entertainment or viewing. Guests are welcome, too. Bring a white elephant gift for a fun exchange.

Those who can’t attend are asked to write a letter or postcard.

Election for the 2008-2009 year officers will be held. There also will be a few items from the 150-year celebration available, according to a news release.
