Development work for a new academic honor society at Emporia State University has paid off. A new chapter of Beta Alpha Psi will be installed at a banquet on the ESU campus on Nov. 30.
“Beta Alpha Psi is the international honorary organization for financial information professionals,” said George Durler, ESU associate professor of accounting and Beta Alpha Psi adviser. “Traditionally, it is best known as the honorary accounting fraternity, but all accounting, finance, and information systems students are welcome to join.”
Students involved in Beta Alpha Psi are encouraged to participate in community service activities. Durler said the ESU chapter has assisted with Relay for Life and Angel Food Ministries during its three-semester probationary phase prior to becoming an official chapter of the international organization.
The ESU chapter currently has 17 members. Durler said those students, plus any new candidates and alumni who joined during the past year, are eligible to be considered charter members of ESU’s Lambda Psi chapter of Beta Alpha Psi during the Nov. 30 installation ceremony.
