An Emporia woman escaped unharmed Tuesday night after a man entered her home in the 500 block of Chestnut Street and tried to batter her.
Deputy Chief Michael Williams of the Emporia Police Department said an Hispanic male, about 30 years old, entered the home around 7:50 p.m. Tuesday.
The man was 5’2” to 5’3”, of average build, with dark skin and dark hair.
The woman escaped through the back door of her residence and screamed for help from a relative who lives across the street.
While she was asking for help, the man left the residence and ran south down Chestnut Street.
