The Lady Spartans finished with 47 team points to place ahead of Shawnee Heights (24), Topeka High (21) and Highland Park (14). Washburn Rural won the League title with 80 points, edging out Topeka West by three points.
The top finish of the day for EHS belonged to Jordan Sosa, who finished eighth in singles play with a 3-3 record.
Sosa got all three of her victories in her first three matches, defeating Hayden’s Chelsi Haefele, 8-5, Highland Park’s Sierra Contee, 8-1, and Shawnee Heights’ Antoinette Cutler, 8-3. However, Sosa ran into trouble after that point, dropping her final three matches to Seaman’s Stephanie Downs, 8-1, Rural’s Lexi Hertling, 8-5, and West’s Rafi Mayer, 8-3.
Also in singles action, Amanda Roberts finished 11th, posting a 3-3 record as well.
Roberts opened the tournament with two straight victories over Manhattan’s Taylor Manges, 8-2, and Junction City’s Lindsay Roberts, 8-6. Roberts then dropped three straight matches before closing out her day with an 8-4 victory over Alicia Moran of Manhattan.
In doubles play, Sarah Watkins and Lauren Kitchens turned in a 12th-place performance, nabbing wins in their third and fourth matches of the day over teams from Highland Park, 8-0, and Topeka High, 8-3.
Whitney Page and Rose Nasrazadani came in 14th in doubles, getting two victories over teams from Topeka High, 8-3, and Shawnee Heights, 8-4.
