The Emporia High School class of 1957 had its reunion in June, celebrating its 50th year.
Karen Eppink Remington and David DeLong were the hosts for the Friday evening social hour, held at the William Allen White House state historic site at 927 Exchange St. The evening concluded with dinner at the Olpe Chicken House. On Saturday, the group took a bus tour to Council Grove and then to the Council Grove lake for lunch at the Marvin and Lavon Place Brockelman home. That evening, the banquet was held at the Emporia Country Club. Billie Max and Gayla Atchison Browning were hosts for a noon luncheon at their home on Sunday. Assisting with the food were Mildred Brickley Gunkel and Shirley Rees Kusmaul.
Those attending the reunion from out of state were Charles Bocquin and Mary Anne Lill Bocquin of Green River, Wyo.; John and Myrna Brewer Brother of Alvin, Texas; Harold and Mabel Freeman Brier of Springfield, Mo.; David DeLong of Philadelphia, Pa.; Karen Eppink Remington of Palm Springs, Calif.; Paul and Bonnie Fredericksen Hensleigh of Stanford, Calif.; Cecil and Marilyn Johnson Howard of Glenwood, N.M.; Allen and Myrna Kirk of Wilmington, Del.; John and Nelly Welch of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Glenda White Cole of Logan, Utah; and Richard and Judy Williams of Alexandria, La.
Attending from Kansas were Mary Gardner Hardy of Overland Park; Marvin and LaVon Place Brockleman of Council Grove; Ken and Pat Preston Willy of Milford; Richard and Judy Price of Topeka; Lester and Shirley Rees Kusmaul of Reading; and Calvin and Mildred Brickley Gunkel and Billie Max and Gayla Atchison Browning of Emporia.
