Food and holiday shopping
The 57th annual Holiday Bazaar and Brunch of the First Congregational Church will be held from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church at 12th Ave. and State St. This is the annual fund-raising event for the Congregational Women’s Fellowship.
There will be baked goods, candies, canned goods, crafts, books, jewelry, gifts and more for sale. The Christmas Brunch will be available from 7:30 a.m to noon and will feature juices, breakfast casseroles, apple fritters, muffins, quick breads, coffee cakes, coffee and milk. Tickets for the brunch, $4 for adults and $2 for children 10 and younger, may be purchased in advance or at the door. The main entrance is on the west side of the church; however, the church is handicapped accessible at the southwest side and there also is an elevator.
Pancakes for supper
The Reading Lions Club will have a pancake supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the basement of the Reading United Methodist Church. The menu includes biscuits, gravy, sausage, eggs, pancakes, juice and coffee. There will be a drawing for $100 and $50. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 and participants do not need to be present to win. The price of the meal is by donation. Proceeds will be used to provide Christmas treats for the children of the community.
