Angel food orders due

Orders for the December Angel Food shipment will be taken today through Saturday at three Emporia churches — Church of the Nazarene, 2931 W. 24th Ave.; Grace United Methodist, 2 Neosho St.; and Emporia Presbyterian Church, 802 Commercial St.

Contents of the boxes, which cost $28 each tax included, will be:

Four 5-oz. rib-eye steaks, two lb. lasagna dinner, 2 lb. split chicken breasts, 1 lb. honey-roasted pork sausage, 1 lb. cooked chicken breast fajitas, 1 lb. cooked meatballs, 1 lb. all-meat jumbo hot dogs, 3 lb. apples, 1 8-oz. biscuit mix, 1 lb. tri-mix vegetables, 1 lb. corn, 1 lb. sliced carrots, 14 oz. chicken broth, 24 oz. hash browns, 6.5 oz. cheeseburger dinner, 10 waffles, 1 dessert item.

None of the food is “day-old” or outdated, according to information from Angel Food Ministries. Retail value of the boxes is between $65 and $75.

People who purchase a box of food are eligible to purchase bonus boxes priced from $16 to $20.

December bonus boxes and their costs, including sales tax, will be:

- Box 1 (7-pound meat combo) — 2 lb. thick-cut pork chops (6 count), 2 lb. beef ribs, 1 lb. rib-eye steaks (2 count), 1 lb. lean beef patties (4 count), 1 lb. Italian sausage, $20.

- Box 2 — 4 lb. choice sirloin strips (8 count), $20.

- Box 3 — 10 lb. breaded chicken tenders, $18.

- Box 4 — 5 grapefruit, 6 oranges, 6 tangelos, 6 tangerines, and 4 each golden delicious apples, red delicious apples, blush pears, Rome apples and navel oranges, $26.

- Box 5 — 9 oz. beef sausage, 9 oz. beef salami, 9 oz. beef summer sausage, 1 7-oz. cheese (cheddar, smoky cheddar, pepper jack), $18.

- Box 6 (gourmet coffee gift special) — 12-oz. each of house blend, hazelnut cream and Guatemala antiquate.

Full payment is required at the time the order is placed, with cash, money orders and Vision cards accepted as payment. Because of payment timing, food orders paid with Visions cards may be placed at the Nazarene office between 9 a.m. and noon Mondays through Thursdays throughout the month.

Food that is not picked up during the distribution time will be donated to charity.

Order times at the Nazarene church will be until 7 p.m. today, 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Times for the Grace Methodist orders will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, 2 to 6 p.m. Friday; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday.

Times for ordering at the Presbyterian church will be 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
