Trees of Hope
Village Inn is working with TFI Family Services, Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar and SOS CASA of the Flint Hills in the Concord Tree of Hope campaign during the 2007 holiday season to help local organizations collect toys and necessities for children and families in need. Participants can choose a name from the Tree of Hope in either restaurant, purchase the gift requested by the child and return gifts to Village Inn by Dec. 15 and by Dec. 17 to Applebee’s.
Helping SOS families
SOS needs help to assist families at holiday time. Participants can help by adopting a family or donating new clothing, household items or gifts to be used as needed. Monetary donations to pay for holiday meals and specific victim needs are especially helpful. Donations of new items can be taken to the SOS holiday workspace, 717 Commercial St., donated by Flint Hills Music. SOS will be available to accept donations from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 12 to 14 and on Dec. 15 by appointment. Because of limited space, SOS can only accept donations of new items at this time. All donations to be used for the holidays must be received no later than Dec. 15.
Those who wish to adopt a family, make a donation or need more information can call Kay or Lori at 343-8799. Monetary donations made payable to SOS can be mailed to P.O. Box 1191, Emporia, KS 66801.
