A drug dealer who lost his Cadillac, cash, and crack cocaine in Lyon County is now on his way to federal prison.
Tuscon D. Redd II, 26, of Oklahoma City, this week was sentenced to five years in prison as a result of his arrest here in January by Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputy Cory Doudican. The arrest occurred on Interstate Highway 35.
“First, an Oklahoma City man drove 300 miles to Kansas City and couldn’t find a buyer for more than half his crack cocaine,” Jim Cross, public information officer for U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren, wrote in a news release. “Then on his way back home, a Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputy pulled him over southbound on I-35 near Emporia.”
When Doudican arrested him, Redd had $18,000 in cash and 126.5 grams of crack cocaine.
Redd pleaded guilty in August to one count of interstate travel to further drug trafficking.
“In his plea, he admitted that on Jan. 18, 2007, he was driving home in a 2004 Cadillac Escalade with more drugs and less money than he expected because a buyer had only purchased half the contracted amount,” Cross said.
The Drug Enforcement Administration also was involved in the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Randy Hendershot.

Way to go Cory! I love it when those walking pieces of trash that sell drugs get thrown in jail. And the money and suv will go to get more dealers off the road. Great job!

Nice job, Cory Doudican!
And when does this 2004 Caddy Escalade come up for Sheriff's sale?
Great hook on this story, Bobbi Mlynar.

Sorry Tre, in defense of Bobbi Mlynar, the verb "plead" is an irregular verb and has a past tense of either "pleaded" or "pled" (Oxford American Dictionary). Technically, you're both correct, so I'm guessing it's up to the newspaper itself to decide on style. I don't have an AP style book handy, but I'm guessing that's what it is.
