The problem is the county’s

There is no denying that the Lyon County Extension Office is in a terrible bind.
The service loses its current office on Commercial Street on Nov. 30. The county has sold the building to TFI (The Farm). But the new office the county is preparing on West Highway 50 for the extension service will not be ready for several weeks after that — if that soon.
What is the extension staff supposed to do? Set up temporary quarters in other county office space? That would require a double move of furniture and files and require a double shift of telephone and Internet service.
Surely, in this time of tight budgets, no one has budgeted for that.
Although the extension office will have to deal with the consequences of this situation, it is really the county commission’s problem. The county sold the old building and made the arrangements for the new quarters. The schedule is the county’s, and the schedule is broken.
Has the county asked TFI to allow the extension office to stay in the Commercial Street building until its new building is ready? TFI has its own schedule to worry about, of course. But it is possible that TFI and extension could share space for a couple of weeks — particularly if the county offered to pay a fair rent for the space.
The worst solution would be to shut down extension office operations in Lyon County until the new office is ready. Extension provides useful and necessary services to the entire county, not just to rural residents.
A solution must be found that will keep the office operating with a minimum of fuss and expense.

Hi Patrick,
I hate to display my ignorance but I did a search and I don't even know what the Lyon County Extension Office is or does. I've been gone to long I suppose.
At any rate, it does sound like poor planning.
Sharing space for awhile sounds like a Christian solution.
I very glad to see your still around!
Kind regards,

So much for tight budgets when they just spent ten grand to finance a temporary move.
