Mound Ridge supper
The Mound Ridge Community meeting and supper were held Oct. 26, sponsored by G.S.C. Extension Unit with 31 people attending.
Neighbors and friends greeted each other and spent a while catching up on news until food was served. The reporter said the meal included chicken and noodles, chili, lasagna, potatoes with cheese, barbecued meat, “luscious” baked sweet potatoes, a variety of salads, jellos and fruit plate and desserts of cherry and apple pies, chocolate, apple and angel food cake and brownies “hot from the oven.”
A free-will donation was given to maintain the community center. Mowing and other work is done by volunteers from different families. A special “thank you” was given to Alice Blankley and Alva Burden for cleaning and preparing the school for the supper.
Entertainment was by the Hoovers and Virginia Shaw; Bruce Hoover played guitar and sang “many good songs to sing with”; Virginia “played keyboard with several lively tunes. Music was enjoyed by all, especially two young brothers on the front row.”
The next meeting will be in April 2008.
