Tech college students receive awards
Six students received the Flint Hills Technical College Foundation Achievement Award. Students received the awards based on a grade point average of at least 3.75, instructor recommendations, leadership, business and work ethics and involvement in school and community
The recipients are: Angela Bell, computer program design and development; Kimberly Johnson, hospitality/culinary arts; Lannie Lyman, business administrative technology; Marc Newkirk, power plant technology; Keith Williams, construction technology; and Byron Yeager, automotive technology.
ESU student gets
national scholarship
Rutherford Rankin, a senior at Emporia State University studying to be a high school journalism teacher, will receive the $1,000 national Journalism Education Association’s Future Teacher Scholarship. The other two scholarships were received by students from Michigan State University and Kansas State University.
