Today
The Emporia Chess Society meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Granada Coffee Company and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. every Saturday at Pyramid Pizza. All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children. There is no charge.
Emporia Masonic Lodge 12 meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 424 Merchant St.
Tuesday
The Rotary Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.
The Etude Club meets at 1:30 p.m. with Norma Karhoff at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor. The program will be “Sacred Images of Christmas: The Season.”
The Literary League meets at 1:30 p.m. for lunch at the Shanghai restaurant. The guest speaker, Regina Murphy of The Emporia Gazette, will talk about her column, “Murphy’s Menu.”
Single Adult Fellowship group meets at 6 p.m. every Tuesday in November at Bad Ol’ Berns, 20 Commercial St. Information: Rufus Hobbs, 392-5780.
The Kiwanis Club meets at 6:15 p.m. in the Commander’s Room at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave.
The Emporia Duplicate Bridge Club meets at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Best Western Hospitality House, 3021 W. Highway 50. Information: Clara Elkins at 342-5274.

The Sunrise Rotary Club meets at 7 a.m. at the Regency Gardens, 3021 W. Highway 50.
The Noon Lions Club meets at noon in the Skyline Room of the ESU Memorial Union.
The Senior Singles group for 50 plus singles desiring Christian fellowship meets at noon every third Wednesday at Regency Gardens in the Best Western Motel. The group orders off the menu. There usually is a program.
The Emporia Gardeners of America Club meets at 7 p.m. at the extension meeting room, 618 Commercial St.
Miriam Chapter 14 of the Order of the Eastern Star meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 424 Merchant St.
Lyon County Chapter 36 Disabled American Veterans meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, 1412 E. Sixth Ave. The Auxiliary meets at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the same location at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday
The Emporia Airport Action Group meets at approximately 9:30 a.m. in the main terminal at the Emporia Municipal Airport for “hangar talk,” coffee and doughnuts. “You are free to move about” the airport.
