With Thanksgiving less than one week away, it’s time to start thinking about the next holiday — Christmas. And what better way to start the holiday season than with a new Christmas ornament?
Kayla Oney of Emporia Main Street announced this week that the 13th annual Main Street Christmas ornament is is now for sale. The ornaments are $10 each and they feature the history of the building in the top of the box. This year, the ornaments feature the Preston B. Plumb House.
“They make a great gift, especially because this year is the 150th,” Oney said. “Preston B. Plumb is one of Emporia’s founders. So what better way to celebrate and put the house on the ornament?”
Oney said previous ornaments are available at the Main Street office, 12 E. Fifth Ave., and Town Crier Bookstore, 716 Commercial St. There is a limited supply of previous ornaments, Oney said.
The ornaments are a fundraiser for Emporia Main Street’s design committee. Each year they feature a different building or structure in Emporia.
“They make such a great gift and they make cool collector items,” Oney said.
