Back-to-back 3-pointers by Cassondra Boston and Michelle Stueve to end the half allowed the Hornets to rally from what had been two 13-point deficits.
Emporia State went 8 1/2 minutes without a field goal midway through the first half, getting outscored 19-6 in that stretch.
But a layup by Alli Volkens helped ESU close the gap to less than 10 points at 33-24 after Cameron had built a 33-20 lead. ESU then went on a 17-4 run over the half's final four minutes to tie it at 37 at the half.
Boston kept it up out of the locker room, hitting two more 3-pointers to help ESU rally from an early five-point hole to begin the second half to make it 44-43 Cameron.
Two Stueve free throws gave ESU its first lead at 45-44 since leading 8-7, and a turnaround jumper by Allie Renberg put ESU back on top 47-46 after a Cameron basket.
Cameron got into serious foul trouble at around the 10-minute mark of the second half, with four of its players picking up at least four fouls.
Boston broke the school record for 3-pointers in a game with her ninth make of the game with 4:23 left that gave ESU a 71-59 lead.
