St. James

Missionary Baptist

A day-long celebration of the 135th anniversary of St. James Missionary Baptist Church will be held Sunday at the church, 730 Sylvan St. The Rev. Dr. Michael L. Moore is the pastor of St. James.

The Rev. Demetri Clark, associate minister at St. James, will conduct the worship service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Larry D. Williams, assistant to the pastor at St. James, will give the sermon.

The afternoon session begins at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Williams in charge of the pulpit. A Mime presentation will be given by Andre Taylor of the Bethany Chapel Baptist Church in Ottawa. The Rev. Dr. Leonard F. Gray, pastor of Second Missionary Baptist Church in Junction City, will deliver the afternoon sermon. The choir from his church will sing.

The Rev. Demetri Clark and his wife, Virginia Clark, have been in charge of the arrangements for the celebration, along with other members to “make this a very special day,” said a member.

The public is invited to attend.

Messiah Lutheran Church will have one Celebration service at 10:30 am Sunday. A pre-service sing-a-long will begin about 10:15. The Harvest Home Festival is on Saturday at the Anderson Building with doors opening at 8:00 and the auction will begin at 10:00
