Voting open for Iron Man award

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Emporia High senior running back Edd Noonan is up for the Kansas Army Iron Man of the Year award, presented to the top two-way football player in the state.

Noonan was chosen as the Iron Man of the Week following his performance in Emporia’s 34-33 upset victory over Junction City. In that game, Noonan rushed for 206 yards and two touchdowns on 43 carries while playing every snap on defense and special teams as well.

For winning the weekly award, Noonan’s name was entered in the contest for the year-end award, along with the eight other weekly winners: J.D. Steffen of Shawnee Mission West, Matt Meinert of Pleasant Ridge, Jason Spradling of Louisburg, Austin Flohrschutz of Shawnee Heights, Justin Smith of Lansing, Steven Filtingberger of Cedar Vale, Andrew Lichter of Seaman and Adam Davey of Seaman.

Fans can vote two ways. Online voting opened on Monday, and fans can go to www.thesportsflash.com to vote for their choice. While there, fans also can choose to vote by e-mail, but e-mail voting can only be done through the Web site.

Voting closes at midnight on Sunday, Nov. 25.
