Come Saturday, Emporia residents will have a new choice when it comes to pizza with the opening of Papa Murphy’s, 2326 Industrial Road, across from Wal-Mart.
Bryan Martin, a spokesman for Papa Murphy’s, said Monday afternoon that the restaurant is planning to be open for a few hours on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, the store will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., which will be the regular hours.
According to an earlier release by Martin, the store was set to open the first part of December.
“We decided to push it up this year and make it happen a little earlier,” Martin said.
Martin said other stores are in the works around Kansas and the company plans on opening them, but they went with Emporia first.
“I just thought big-picture-wise that Emporia would embrace it a lot easier,” he said. “I said, ‘Let’s open Emporia first because it’s smaller. We can make more of an impact there than we can in downtown Wichita.’”
Papa Murphy’s is a take-and-bake chain with more than 1,000 locations. The shops make the pizza crusts and apply the toppings to order. The customers then bake the pizzas at home.
“Papa Murphy’s empowers its patrons,” Martin said earlier this fall in a press release. “Not only do they decide which fresh, high-quality ingredients top their pizza, but customers have the pleasure of baking it right in their own ovens.”

In the immortal words of Sgt. Joe Friday,"Just the facts Ma'am".
There may not be one in "downtown" Wichita, but there are a few in Kansas.
They probably have a great product at a savings.
Why was the corporate deception necessary

Papa Murphy's continued its controlled expansion in 2000, augmenting its longtime marketing campaign that relied on print advertising and coupons with some regional television advertising.
It opened its 600th store in October 2000 in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park, Kansas,
thereby becoming the nation's sixth largest pizza chain, according to Franchise Corporation of America. Papa Murphy's territory now included 21 states, stretching as far north as Alaska and as far east as Illinois. Systemwide sales were approximately $300 million.

Way to misread the quote. He is saying that the company was deciding where to expand to next. They chose to expand in Emporia first. Simple as that.
