Students honored

Thirty-two senior students from high schools in Osage and Wabaunsee counties were recognized Monday by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and KU Endowment for their academic achievements and named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at Wabaunsee High School in Alma. Honorees from this area were Sadie Johnson, Neil Holloway, Julia Barnhart and Amber Oshel, all from Osage City High School; Tyler Davis and Chris Walker from Burlingame High School; and Stephanie Goetz, Ashley Persinger, Kayla Schmidt, Chelsea Schmitz and Alex Wendling, all from Lyndon High School.

Completes basic

Army National Guard Private Tanner J. Banks has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky. Banks is the son of Shirley Banks of Topeka and Jim Banks of Osage City. He attends Osage City High School.
