Special to The Gazette  Sesquicentennial book

The Sesquicentenial Book Committee meets at 6:30 p.m. today in the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. For information, call Jan Huston, (620) 443-5214. The meeting is open to the public and historical information is always needed.

Historical holiday

A day full of events are planned for Dec. 1.

A crafts activity for children preschool through third grade will be at the library from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. After that, children can eat lunch with Santa at the Breckinridge Cafe until 1 p.m. A kid-friendly meal will be served at a moderate price.  The parade will be held at 6:30 p.m. with line-up at the corner of Main and Walnut. Entries may be made at 6 or earlier by calling (620) 443-5546.

The Emporia Community Theatre will present “Hank the Cowdog” in a readers theater setting at 7 p.m. Dec. 1in the USD 251 meeting room. The performance is free and open to the public.

Soup and sandwiches will be served at the United Presbyterian Church beginning at 5:00 p.m. and after the parade.
