After a breakthrough season this fall, the honors are starting to roll in for the Emporia High boys soccer team.
The Spartans had six players named to the Class 5A All-Region team, including four first-teamers.
Defenders Brandon Heavener and Joey Sanchez, midfielder Adrian Trujillo and goalkeeper Spencer Anderson all picked up first-team Region honors.
Forward Carlos Antonio and midfielder Gary Rivera were selected to the second-team All-Region squad.
It is known that Heavener, Trujillo and Anderson have been named All-State selections as well, but whether they earned first-team or second-team honors has not been announced.
Also, Heavener and Trujillo both picked up first-team honors from the Centennial League, which features teams from Class 4-6A.
The Spartans finished the 2007 season with a 12-5 record after winning just three games a season earlier.

Anybody that went to the games this year saw these selections coming. These fine STUDENT-athletes have proven that soccer is here to stay in this town wait in the next 2-4 years we'll have a state qualifier and or a state champion. Great work guy and hope to see you playing at the college level.
