Bizal children
Dick and Lorraine Bizal of Newport Beach, Calif., and Bob Bizal of Denver, Colo., were in Emporia Oct. 14 through 17 for a reunion of the four living children of John and Margaret Bizal and to celebrate their sister Kitty (Catherine) Bizal Funck’s 88th birthday on Oct. 16. Funck, formerly of California, lives in Emporia and the others are former residents of Emporia. Bob Bizal graduated from Emporia High School in 1944, and all attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and school. While here they also visited Anne Markowitz and Tom and Patsy Cotté of Emporia.
The Cotté’s were hosts for Kitty Funck’s birthday party at their home; Patsy Cotté is the daughter of Kitty Funck. Along with the visitors, other guests were Anne Markowitz, Lisa, Danielle, Derek and Ethan Hoisington of Olathe; Lara, Ramsey and Lucie Cotté-Belt of Madison; and Sarah Cotté and Josh Willilamson of Emporia.
While here, the visitors enjoyed seeing the former Bizal home on 2 S. East St. and other sites of their youth in Emporia. They visited Cottonwood Falls and had a “delicious” lunch at the Grand Hotel, said the reunion reporter. They also went to Olpe’s “famous” Chicken House.
