Recycling trailer
The recycling trailer will be at the Americus Elementary School on Tuesday and again Nov. 20. Recyclables collected are cardboard, glass, junk mail, magazines, newspapers, plastic milk jugs, plastic pop bottles, plastics, No. 1 and No. 2 and tin cans. Veterans Day parade
The combined North Lyon County Junior High Band will march in the Veterans Day parade in Emporia on Saturday. Other performances this fall have been in the Northern Heights High School Homecoming parade, the Northern Heights High School Junior High Band Night and the Americus Days parade. Americus also hosted the Flint Hills Junior Leage Vocal Clinic and Concert with Terry Barham of Emporia State University.
Ely Wells is the Americus music director.
Box tops
The Americus School Parent Teacher Organization is collecting Box Tops for Education. The box tops can be dropped off at the school or given to students who attend Americus School. For information, Angela Anderson, president, (620) 443-5528 or Linda Houston, treasurer, (620) 443-5050.
Chamber of commerce
The annual meeting for the Americus Chamber of Commerce will be Jan. 29 in the United Presbyterian annex. A membership drive soon will be underway. For information, (620) 443-5480.
