An Emporia man was injured late Friday afternoon when his car rear-ended a pickup truck on Kansas Highway 99 about 2 miles north of Olpe.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that Travis Ray Spires, 24, of Emporia was northbound on the highway in a 1992 Honda Accord at 6 p.m. when the car struck the rear of a 1996 GMC pickup that was stopped to make a left-hand turn. The truck was driven by Genevieve L. Casteel, 74, of Emporia.
Sprires, who was not wearing a seat belt, was injured. He was taken to Newman Regional Health by ambulance.
Casteel, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.
