About 800 people are expected to come to the Emporia State University campus at the end of next week for the 2007 convention of the Kansas Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
ESU is host to the convention for the second year of a three-year term on Nov. 8 and 9. Joella Mehrhof, convention manager and professor in the department of health, physical education and recreation, said ESU is the first school to get to hold the convention for three years in a row.
The convention targets public school health and physical education educators, Mehrhof said. About 90 presenters from around the state, country and internationally are expected to attend, Mehrhof said. Many of the sessions, which range from topics such as bullying to juggling, are sponsored by groups, Mehrhof said.
“We try to get outside funding and sponsors for sessions,” she said.
