Rummage sale
The First Christian Church will have a Rummage Sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Fellowship Hall in the basement. Proceeds will be used for church projects.
Fall festival
The Americus United Methodist Church Annual Fall Festival will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The menu features pork loin, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, salad, roll and homemade desserts. The cost for adults is $6; $3 for children 4-10; free for children three and younger. The Country Store also will be open. Proceeds will go to the church general fund.
Hartford Penny Supper
The Hartford United Methodist Women will serve the Penny Supper beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Hartford United Methodist Church. Some foods to be served are ham loaf, chicken pie, minute steak, choice of vegetables, salads, rolls, homemade desserts and ice cream. Each food is priced separately.
Harvest dinner
The Allen United Methodist Church will have the annual Harvest Dinner from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday. They will serve barbecued brisket, scalloped potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, homemade rolls and desserts. A free will offering will be taken.
Ham and beans on the menu
The Melvern Community Pride is sponsoring a Ham and Bean Dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Community Building. Along with the ham and beans, there will be cornbread and dessert for a suggested donation of $5. Proceeds will be used to help with community projects.
Turkey tickets
The Emporia High School Debate students will be selling “turkey drawing” tickets door-to-door beginning Sunday to raise funds to send qualified teams to the national tournament this year. The drawing to win three large holiday turkeys, donated by Reeble’s Country Mart will be held on Dec. 7. Three winners will be notified by telephone. Chances to win are $2 each or three chances for $5.
Sacred Heart festival
The Sacred Heart Catholic Church 22nd annual Fall Festival begins with serving at 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart Parish Hall, 101 Cottonwood St. The menu includes baked turkey, whipped potatoes with gravy, turkey dressing, green beans, sauerkraut, dinner rolls, choice of salads, homemade pies and cakes, iced tea and coffee. The cost is $8 for adults; $3 for children 3-10. Delivery to the homebound is available. Call the office at 342-1061 for tickets.
Tacos for PTO
The Neosho Rapids PTO will have a Taco Supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the elementary school. The supper includes two tacos, rice, chips and cheese, dessert and beverage. Tickets are $5 in advance or $6 at the door. Tickets may be purchased from a Neosho Rapids elementary student, or at Hartford High School, Hartford State Bank or Neosho Rapids Elementary.
