Morris County
A pictorial history book “Communities of Morris County,” is being published to preseve the history of the area. The Council Grove Republican reported that the Morris County Historical Society announced the book will be library quality, hard bound collectors’ edition and will be ready by Christmas. It will feature 128 pages of photographs and history of Morris County. Historic photographs are needed from current and past residents of Morris County. The photos can cover a wide range of events and may be mailed to the Council Grove Republican.
Burlington
The Burlington USD 244 Board of Education created a new half-time position and hired a new band teacher when it met recently.
The Coffey County Republican reported on May 18 that after two executive sessions to discuss personnel matters of non-elected personnel the board unanimously approved a professional contract for a half-time position as assistant to the principal of Burlington Elementary School.
The board also accepted the resignation of instrumental music teacher Gary McCarty at the end of the school year. They approved a contract with Dan Wooge of Osage City to replace McCarty.
