‘Angel Food’ orders will be accepted next week

Orders will be taken next week for the “Angel Food” delivery on June 16.

For $25 each, participants will receive a box of food valued between $65 and $75, sponsors have said. The program is open to the public, with no income or eligibility requirements and no quantity limits.

The June box will contain: a two-pound Salisbury steak dinner, two pounds of St. Louis ribs, two pounds of chicken tenders, 18 oz. of stuffed manicotti, eight 4-oz. country fried beef steaks, two pounds of chicken breast fillets, 6.5 ounces of lasagna hamburger dinner, 7.5 oz. ranch and bacon pasta salad, one pound pinto beans, 16 oz. of sliced frozen carrots, 16 oz. of corn, 24-oz. package of steak-cut French fries, 8-oz. corn muffin mix, one pound of white rice, 14-oz. of peanut butter, one 10-count box of waffles, and one dessert item.

Three bonus boxes with a variety of meat cuts also are available for people who purchase the basic box of groceries. Those boxes cost $17 or $18, depending upon contents.

Participants need to bring a large box to exchange for each box of food purchased. Purchases must be paid for in advance with cash, money order or food stamps. No checks will be accepted. Boxes must be picked up at the delivery time specified on receipts.

Orders will be taken at the Emporia Presbyterian Church, 802 Commercial St., on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m., Friday, June 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday June 2, from 10 to 2 p.m. Distribution will be from 11 a.m. to noon at Spic-N-Span Cleaners, Fourth Avenue and Merchant Street. Orders will be taken at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2931 W. 24th Ave., on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, June 1, from 2 to 6 p.m.; Wednesday from 2 to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, June 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call the church, 342-2858.
