Five men and four women will represent the Emporia State track team at the Division-II National Championships May 24-26 in Charlotte, N.C.
Of those that qualified, the Hornets’ top mark comes from Andy Vogelsberg. The senior, who won the national championship in the javelin last year, enters with the top-ranked throw this year at 70.96 meters.
Joining Vogelsberg in the field events will be the versatile Trent Olivier and Damon Birk. Olivier will compete in three events (shot put, discus, hammer) while Birk will go in two (shot put, discus).
Tyson Allen also will compete in javelin.
Craig Saalfeld will be the other male competitor, entering with the 11th-best national mark in the high jump (2.11 meters).
On the women’s side, all four athletes will compete in running events.
Jaclyn Sill, Danielle Sedivy, Kara Euler and Jonel Rossbach will team together to run the 4x400, where they are ranked 11th overall (3:47.88).
Euler and Sill will also take part in the 400-meter run, where they have the 14th- and 15th-best marks, respectively, while Rossbach will participate in the 1,500-meter run (9th, 4:35.12).
