Immigration presentation
Retired history professor Sam Dicks will speak on “Immigration in the United States: Its Flow and Patterns from the 1870s to 2006” as part of a League of Women Voters meeting tonight at the Emporia Public Library. The presentation will start at 7 p.m.
The meeting is the kickoff event for a two-year study on immigration and the United States by the national League of Women Voters. Emporia’s chapter of the league is taking part in the study, aimed at helping communities understand the implications of immigration at the local, state and federal levels.
The league will hold other public meetings on the topic this fall.
The Emporia Public Library will help to sponsor this study by providing books and materials on immigration that will be available to the public.
