A 26-year-old Emporia man was arrested by Lawrence police on nine different charges Sunday morning, including assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of a stimulant with intent to sell, criminal possession of a firearm and lewd and lascivious behavior.
Police arrested Darren Alexander Blizzard, 26, after an incident at The Pool Room in Lawrence that began around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. According to police, a Pool Room employee alleged that Blizzard exposed part of his body and inappropriately touched himself while in the business.
After police arrived and arrested Blizzard, they found a .25-caliber Phoenix Arms handgun on him, loaded with three rounds and another round in the chamber. The serial number on the gun had been filed off.
Blizzard also had more than $1,000 in cash and a pill bottle with 17 plastic baggies which the police report said contained “white items shaped like rocks consistent with crack cocaine.”
The report said that Blizzard initially refused to enter the police car and pushed an officer into a patrol car, damaging a door. Blizzard was taken to the Douglas County Jail.
Blizzard is also wanted on a Lyon County warrant, which carries a bail of $25,000.
The other charges against Blizzard are obstruction of the legal process, no tax stamp, defacing the ID of a firearm, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct. He was also detained on probable cause warrants for illegally carrying a concealed firearm and battery on a law enforcement officer.
