Lyon County commissioners will meet for an action session starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday in the Lyon County commission chambers of the Lyon County Courthouse. This will be the only meeting held this week. Items on the agenda include:

• Rick Frevert will give an update on the south communication tower and department update.

Emporia City commission
The Emporia City Commission will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the city conference room, 521 Market St. Discussion will include:
• The city’s overtime exemptions under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Some of the overtime figures for the Emporia Police Department had been questioned by County Attorney Marc Goodman at a meeting of the law-enforcement consolidation task force.
• Who should take the point in retail development for the city. Last year, a commercial development task force suggested giving the job to a volunteer group working with the Regional Development Association of East-Central Kansas, but no formal action was taken by the city.
• The city’s capital improvement plan.
After the meeting, commissioners will have lunch with the Emporia Recreation Commission at noon in the city conference room.
