Brothers Joshua Ball and Jared Ball of Edgerton Troop 369 were recognized as Eagle Scouts during the Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony on March 11 at Edgerton Baptist Church in Edgerton. They are the grandsons of Glenn Greenlee and the late JaNelda Greenlee of Emporia. They are the sons of Rick and Cheryl Ball of Spring Hill.
Joshua’s Eagle Project was mapping the location of the veterans in the Spring Hill Cemetery for the American Legion. He also landscaped the entrance to the cemetery, painted the lettering on the stone wall and created an area for flowers to be placed at the Veterans Memorial in the cemetery. He has earned 41 badges, held leader positions and is now Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 369. He is a freshman at Johnson County Community College.
Jared’s Eagle Project was constructing squirrel nesting boxes for Operation Wildlife. He is a junior at Spring Hill High School and has earned 43 merit badges; held positions of assistant Leader and is now Patrol Leader. He also participated in a canoeing High Adventure trip on the Current River.
They are both members of two Honor Camping societies, Order of the Arrow and Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Both received the World Conservation award and 100 night camper award; Joshua also received the snorkeling certificate. They will attend Camp Bartle in August; Joshua, as assistant campmaster and Jared, as troop leader.
