Mound Ridge reunion
Twenty-six people attended the annual Spring Gathering of the Mound Ridge Community held April 27 at the Community Center, sponsored by the C.S.C. extension unit. The oldest couple present were Ralph and Grace Van Sickle, who have attended for many years. Many young couples and children also attended.
A variety of food was served, including pasta and meat, potato casseroles, fresh asparagus, salads, ham and beans, several Jell-O dishes and “yummy” desserts, according to the reporter.
The speaker was Steve Trebilcock, director of the David Traylor Emporia Zoo. He talked about previous places he has worked and described plans for future exhibits at the Emporia Zoo. He also showed pictures of the snowy owls and talked about the many animal exhibits, after which there was a question and answer time.
The next meeting will be the fourth Friday in October.
