The Emporia High girls soccer team hung around for a half Monday night against Washburn Rural, but then the Lady Blues — led by three Bri Silovsky goals — turned on the offensive fireworks in the second half to win going away, 6-0.
Emporia trailed at the half by just a single goal, 1-0, but Washburn Rural exploded for five goals after halftime to turn the game into a rout.
The Lady Spartans (5-7) were playing their first game without the services of senior midfielder Kylee McCullough. McCullough suffered a fractured fibula in last week’s 3-0 loss to Shawnee Heights and is done for the season.
