Lyon County Commission
Lyon County commissioners will meet for a study session beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday in the Lyon County Commission Chambers of the Lyon County Courthouse. Items on the agenda include:
• At 8:30 a.m., Chip Woods, Lyon County engineer, will review five-year plan that will be considered at a public hearing. Woods also will discuss a road closing on Road E 5 between Roads 175 and 180.
• At 9 a.m., Joe Norton and Garth Herrmann, of Gilmore & Bell, P.C. bond counsel for the county, will review a resolution relating to general obligation bonds in Fire District No. 2.
• At 9:15 a.m., Richard Old, Lyon County undersheriff, will discuss the purchase of equipment and less lethal ammunition for training and equipping SRT Team members using up to $5,000.
• At 9:45 a.m., Randy Sinclair, will review the 2007-2008 health insurance contribution options.
• At 10 a.m., Steve Samuelson, Lyon County zoning director and flood plain manager, will bring four zoning applications to the commission.
• At 10:30 a.m., Gary Post, Lyon County appraiser, will give a departmental update.
Commissioners will engage in other discussion starting at 10:45 a.m. These items include:
• Discussing a National Tourism Week proclamation.
• Discussing Vici Reynolds attending the National Court Collection Conference in 2007.
Olpe City Council
The Olpe City Council meets at 7 p.m. today at City Hall.
The agenda consists of:
• Approval of expenditures.
• Swearing in of newly elected officials.
• Comments from the public (10-minute limit).
• The Olpe Jones Lake gatekeeper report.
• The Fire District 1 fire chief report.
• A bid to move Don Haag’s Mobile Homes.
• Unfinished business, including the golf course contract, city lake rezoning or annexation, open engineering bids for sewer/water to new development and street resurfacing.
• New business, including a water project, elections, appointments and the budget.
• Reports.
