Burlington
The Burlington City Council’s search for a city administrator has been narrowed down to two candidates.
Mayor Rick Raymer said the council interviewed applicants during two special meetings. Twenty-four applicants initially applied for the position.
The city of Burlington will celebrate its 150th this year. A group of locals are making plans for the 150th year-round celebration, with the biggest bash coming during the high school homecoming week of Sept. 21 and 22.
LeRoy
LeRoy City Marshal Don Rife tendered his resignation effective April 30 during the LeRoy City Council meeting on March 5.
Morris County
Bruce Jones, Channel 27 Topeka, will be the speaker at the regular April meeting of the Morris County Historical Society 2 p.m. April 9 in the courthouse meeting room. His topic will be the history of weather reporting. He plans to bring digital pictures to include in his presentation.
Dwight
A substance abuse policy that took a year and numerous committee meetings to make was adopted by USD 417 by the Board of Education at its regular meeting at Prairie Heights Elementary School in Dwight.
The committee worked to set standards at a level which students are expected to achieve and uphold by a policy that is known, understood and enforced and is written to curb illicit behavior. Students must sign a statement that they are aware of the policy.
