There’s still a lot of inauguration week left before Michael Lane is formally installed as president of Emporia State University. Here are some of the events still ahead:
• From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight, a Business After Hours will be held at the Sauder Alumni Center.
• On Friday, a student parade down Commercial Street will be held at noon. Following that, a student involvement fair will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Kellogg Circle, with entertainment, activities and several of ESU’s student groups and organizations.
• A free gala concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Albert Taylor Hall, with a reception afterward in the Plumb Hall rotunda. The performance is by ESU’s jazz ensemble, wind ensemble, orchestra and a cappella choir.
• On Saturday, a continental breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the ESU Memorial Union’s “Main Street.” Campus tours will be given from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., beginning at Main Street.
• The Kansas Business Hall of Fame and the Sherrer Leadership Room, in Cremer Hall rooms 205 and 206, will be open from 9 a.m. until noon.
• A processional to Albert Taylor Hall in academic robes will begin at 1:40 p.m. The inauguration ceremony will run from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. in Albert Taylor Hall. A public reception will be held afterward from 3:30 p.m. until about 6 p.m. in Webb Lecture Hall and the Colonial Ballroom at the ESU Memorial Union.

What a joke. ESU has no money, but them seem to be able to pay for a week-long "party." I think if Lane really cared about the education of the students and the finances of ESU , he would have just settled for a simple ceremony.
