Q Why are you running for this office?
A This is a great opportunity to serve the communities and families of South Lyon County.
Q If elected, what are your goals?
A Continue to support and build upon the strong education foundation already in place in South Lyon County.
Q How will the Southern Lyon County school board be better with you as a member?
A I bring a business background and an open mind to the board. This allows all issues facing the board to be discussed, and ultimately handled in a manner that is beneficial today as well as in the future.
Q What do you think is the biggest issue facing the Southern Lyon County school board and how would you resolve it?
A Budgets and retaining excellent teachers and personnel will be key issues. This is the basic common denominator for every school district. Every year tough decisions will need to be made concerning how the district operates. These decisions are a direct product of changes in student populations, increases and decreases in district revenue, and continuing to improve educational programs. Each year the school board must be aware of where we are, where do we want to be, and are we doing the best we can for the children, youth and families we serve.
Q What should the Southern Lyon County school board’s priorities be when it plans a budget?
A The budget priorities will always surround being fiscally responsible while supporting teachers, staff, students, and educational programs.
Q Looking to the future, what are three things you’d like to see happen in the Southern Lyon County school district?
A I would like to see the following items continue or expand: Pre-K program, technology in the classroom, as well as, throughout the district continue to be enhanced, and opportunities for each student to participate in additional academic programs.
