The Gazette office has been unusually short on elbow room this week. Seven photojournalism students and their advisers from the University of Kansas moved into the office on Monday, loaded with camera gear, laptop computers and ideas.

The group was in town for a spring break workshop, a week’s worth of concentrated professional experience. Each student conceived and photographed a story about Emporia and its people. In the evenings, professional photojournalists came in to talk to the students.

In coming days, The Gazette will publish the photos taken by the students.

But for today, the lens is on them.
