• The anonymous individual who donated a coin-and-currency collection worth between $12,000 and $16,000 to the Emporia Friends of the Zoo. Talk about making change!
• Little Train supporters, who have now given more than $40,000 to repair the Soden’s Grove attraction.
• Emporia State University’s softball team, which at this writing had gone 33 straight innings without giving up a run. Those Hornets definitely have plenty of nothin’.
• Karen Schell, Newman hospital’s director of cardiopulmonary services, who received the national Outstanding Affiliate Contributor Award from the American Association of Respiratory Care.
• ESU basketball coach David Moe, who was one of three men interviewed to coach Denver University. We’re proud that he got recognized, but glad that we get to keep him.
• All the participants in and admirers of Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day parade. You guys rock ... shamrock, that is.
