Student of the Month
Tyler Thompson, senior at Emporia High School, was named the Emporia Lions Club Student of the Month. Thompson, the son of Kenneth and Debra Thompson, has a 3.98 grade point average and has been accepted in the honors engineering program at the University of Kansas, where he will study chemical engineering with a pre-medical emphasis.
He is a member of the EHS National Honor Society chapter and was treasurer in the 2006-07 term of office. He has achieved exemplary ratings on the Kansas State assessment tests in mathematics, science and reading. At EHS, he has been active in theater, forensics and vocal music. He was a national qualifier in forensics, finished first place in the state forensics meet and received ratings of I on vocal solos in the state music contest.
