Burlington

Coffey County Commissioners designated April 2-7 as Spring Clean-Up Week in Coffey County. During the Clean Up week, the landfill will be open to free in-county residential dumping as in past years.

Gridley

In an effort to promote growth in the community, the Gridley City Council discussed the possibility of free water and sewer hookups during its monthly meeting on March 5 at Gridley City Hall. Mayor Larry Kelley presented the council with a possible hookup package for utilities to assist new businesses and to promote residential growth. A full council discussed the option and agreed they would like to do everything they can to promote growth and welcome new residents to the community. However, wording of the policy and cost feasibility of the policy kept the council from adopting the policy at this time.

Madison

The city of Madison will hold their annual Dog and Cat clinic on Saturday, March 31 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the fire building located at 217 South Third St. Dr. Scott Gordan of the Emporia Veterinary Hospital will be available for vaccinations. City dog and cat licenses will be sold that day and will be $5 for spayed or neutered dogs or cats; and $7.50 otherwise. Dog and cat forms are available at the City Office.

Madison

The Madison Athletic Club is open for business in downtown Madison. According to owner Kenny Walburn the gym will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Sunday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
