Olpe Lions Club

Invitations and brochures were recently mailed to a wide variety of candidates in our area and town. Anyone who might be interested in becoming active in the community can contact any Lions member for more information or Mike Davis at 620-475-3637.

 The Lions Club will be providing two $500 educational scholarships to OHS seniors. Applications for the scholarships are available from OHS school counselor Jesse Nelson. Each applicant is required to write a short essay on the topic “We Serve-how can you exemplify this Lions’ motto in your life. The essays will determine the scholarships winners. Applications are to be submitted by March 30.

Scoring record

Kayla Krueger was awarded a certificate of achievement during the game against Sunrise Christian on February 13, becoming Olpe’s second all time leading scorer. With a running total of 1,625 points in her career Krueger broke the previous record of 1,589 points held by Carolyn Davis. Krueger is second only to former Lady Eagle Michelle Stueve.

Storm spotters prepare

The Olpe storm spotters meeting is planned for March 26, 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Anyone interested in becoming a storm spotter or learning about storms is welcome.

Basketball royalty

Seth Pargman and Kayla Krueger wore the crowns as King and Queen of courts for Olpe High school Feb. 15. The other queen candidates were Sammantha Maley, Julie Redeker, Anna Binder, and Kelsi Hinz. The other king candidates were Michael Schmidt, Colton Stueve, Jordan Pargman, and Tanner Coble. The crown bearer was Hayley Weiss and the metal bearer was Lane Armour.
