Addiction project
“The Addiction Project,” a 14-part series on HBO, begins with a “centerpiece documentary” at 8 p.m. Thursday. According to the news release, the project “defines addiction as a chronic relapsing brain disease that is treatable,” but requires the support of entire communities to understand and assist. The series “will provide valuable information to anyone who may be battling addiction, knows someone who is battling addiction or cares about those in the community that are battling addiction.” Emporians for Drug Awareness plans to provide a private showing the series later in the year, with a date yet to be determined. Kindergarten visits
Chase County Elementary School will have kindergarten visits and screening on March 28 at the CCES kindergarten; this is the developmental screening for kindergarten entrance. All children who will be 5 before Sept. 1 are eligible and should be screened. To request a morning or afternoon session, call (620) 273-6396. Students in Chase County Children’s Services Preschool will not need to make appointments. Kindergarten pre-enrollment will be at 7 p.m. April 12 at CCES. Families will receive individual results of their child’s screening, meet with the school people who will work with their child and complete pre-enrollment forms.
Osage City school district
Osage City Unified School District No. 420 meets at 7 p.m. today for a regular board meeting at the Board of Education Building. The agenda includes a district program showcase by Lynn Tice - Health Class/CPR; old business, including board vacancy, project updates, summer school date; and new business, including KASB New board Member Workshop, Three Lakes report, transfer of funds; executive session.
