Applications are still being taken for an entrepreneur training program, which begins March 27.
The program, which is coordinated by Emporia Main Street, Flint Hills Technical College and Kansas Small Business Development Center at Emporia State University, will give participants the fundamentals to start their own business. Graduates of the course, which runs from March 27 to May 15, will be eligible to apply for Trusler 0 percent interest loans; free Emporia Main Street membership for one year; free Emporia Chamber of Commerce membership for one year; assistance with location and utilities planning and business design (if located in Main Street district); and Incentives Without Walls zero interest program (within Emporia Main Street district).
All small business owners and potential owners are eligible to receive assistance at the Kansas Small Business Development Center and are encouraged to become Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce and Main Street members.
The course cost is $291 plus the cost of textbook and will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at The Emporia Public Library large meeting room and FHTC.
There are 15 class sessions. The sessions can be attended individually. The cost for an individual session is $79 plus the cost of the mandatory textbook.
Registration should be done through Flint Hills Technical College. It can be done in person at 3301 W. 18th Ave., or by phone 343-4600. Early sign-up for the courses is advised. Class participants can sign up through the start date of the course, but it is not recommended.
