Keshia Harris of Emporia received third place in the Rose Queen Pageant held recently at Olathe.
Keshia Harris, a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, represented the Smoky Hill District in the annual Rose Queen Pageant held June 11 at the Kansas State Youth Convention in Olathe. The Neosho Valley District was the host for the convention held June 9-11.
Harris received first place in the Christian Questions portion of the competition with her answers to life situation scenarios regarding response to peer pressure. For the talent section of the pageant she performed an interpretive dance to the musical number, “I Won’t Complain” by John P. Kee.
Harris expressed her appreciation for the support she received from the church, the district and the Emporia community.
“Without all of you, my participation would not have been possible,” she said.
