THE CORNER HOUSE is in the final hours of its campaign to raise money to build a new house for a drug and alcohol treatment center. For more than 30 years, the house has provided a stable environment for people to overcome their addictions.
If the group does not meet the fund-raising goal, it will not receive $450,000 in challenge grants from the Jones Trust and Mabee Foundation.
Our community has a track record of succeeding in fund-raising projects and we hope this is one project that does not come up short.
Raising money for a new drug and alcohol center may not be a community “feel-good” project like the Soden’s Grove train or the Granada Theatre, but it is just as worthy.
In three days, the group needs to receive pledges for $20,000. We hope local businesses and industries will consider pledging $1,000 gifts and individuals will pledge smaller amounts.
The campaign received a big boost when one generous, anonymous individual gave $25,000.
The house may be called the Corner House, but it’s really a house of hope. If you have been affected by someone with a drug or alcohol problem, whether it is a parent, grandparent, son, daughter, aunt, uncle or friend, we hope you will give.
Time has almost run out, so please make a pledge today and let’s have this be another community success.
