Another Emporia church has joined in as an Angel Food order and distribution center.
Grace United Methodist Church, 2 Neosho St., will join First Church of the Nazarene and Emporia Presbyterian Church as sources of monthly food boxes. Angel Food boxes cost $25 each and are valued between $65 and $75. The food is not second-quality or outdated.
Orders at Grace will be taken from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday and Saturday, June 30, and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday.
Orders at the Presbyterian church, 802 Commercial St., will be taken from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 28; 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 29; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. June 30.
Order times at the Nazarene church, 2931 W. 24th Ave., are: Wednesday, 2 to 7 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 2 to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, June 30, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Food distribution will be on Saturday, July 14th. Both Grace and the Nazarene churches distribute at the churches. Distribution times will be on payment receipts for Nazarene pick-ups. Boxes ordered through Grace can be picked up at 8 a.m. Presbyterian distribution is at the Spic-n-Span building, Fourth Avenue and Merchant Street between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.
The menu for next month is: 4 lbs. chicken thighs, 12-inch supreme pizza, 2 lb. lasagna dinner, 1 lb. chicken breast fajitas, 12 oz. philly steak portions, 2 lb. popcorn chicken; 16 oz. smoked sausage, 10-count flour tortilla, 2 lb. fresh yellow onions, 16 oz. gourmet bean soup, 24 oz. home-style hash browns, 7 oz. steamed and seasoned vegetables, 7.5 oz. macaroni and cheese, 1 lb. frozen baby carrots, 1 lb. California blend vegetables, one dessert item, one dozen fresh eggs.
Special bonus boxes of food are available with the purchase of a standard Angel Food box. The special boxes, which cost $17-$18, feature steaks, pork, ribs, hamburger patties, and a stuffed chicken breast combo box. Details on contents are available at the churches.
Food must be paid for at the time of ordering. Cash and food stamps can be used for payment; no personal checks will be accepted.
Orders that are not picked up at the designated time and place will be donated to charity.
