Birthday for Bob
Bob Ecklund will be the guest of honor at an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave., celebrating his 90th birthday. Hosts are his children and their spouses, Dick and Connie Reishus, Gary and Becky Gale, Terry and Ann Ecklund and John and Kathy Ecklund.
West Subway is moving
The Subway restaurant at 1426 Industrial Road will close at 10 p.m. today. The restaurant is being moved to a new location at 935 Industrial Road, between the China Buffet and Gambino’s Pizza.
The Subway will open at that address on July 5, featuring new decor and drive-through service.
For senior singles
The new Senior Singles group for 50-plus single persons desiring Christian fellowship and fun will meet at noon each third Wednesday of the month at the Regency Room in the Best Western Motel. They will order off the menu and have entertainment. The next meeting will be July 18. They also will have a social gathering each month. This month, on Friday, the group will meet at Beach Music Hall on the ESU campus to go to the Barbershop Festival at 8 p.m. On July 26, they will have an ice cream social at the north end of Fremont Park before the band concert. Bring lawn chairs and friends, along with ice cream, cake or cookies to share.
Road opening
The Lyon County Highway Department re-opened Road H between roads 110 and 130 on Monday afternoon. The road had been closed for a bridge replacement.
